The Librarium is an archive of small press loving curated by artists with library tendencies.

The Librarium

A book exists only through the outside and on the outside. A book itself is a little machine. (Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari, A Thousand Plateaus)

The Librarium started out in 2009 as a modest effort to make a collection out of an accumulation of mainly DIY, punk, Indonesian and anarchist, and USA zines. It soon morphed into an expanded collection of small press publications, journals, essays, catalogues, articles, ephemera (and teapots) in a cosy corner of the Bill+George studio, an artist-run space in Redfern, Sydney.

Since Bill+George closed down in 2013, we have been in a holding pattern waiting for our new warehouse space to renovate itself. WATCH THIS SPACE. Meanwhile, we occasionally go mobile.
